Thoughts on offshore options given current CAD weakness
Watching $CADUSD dip slightly today, trading around 0.71731, makes me ponder the utility of offshore diversification for holding a portion of liquid assets. While I'm not seeing any immediate systemic risks, the consistent pressure on the CAD against the USD, especially with interest rate differentials, makes a stronger case for exploring options beyond domestic banks. It's less about avoiding tax (everything needs to be compliant, obviously) and more about capital preservation against currency fluctuations and potential future rate hikes elsewhere.

It's a valid consideration. Beyond CAD weakness, the potential for better interest rates or a wider range of investment products offshore can also be attractive for diversification.
