KYB for non-traditional business models - anyone seeing patterns?

Been pondering the challenges around KYB for businesses that don't fit the neat 'traditional corporation' mold. We're seeing an increasing number of clients operating with distributed teams, multiple legal entities across jurisdictions, or even highly fluid structures like DAOs that have real-world assets or interfaces. The standard documentation requests often don't quite fit, and trying to establish ultimate beneficial ownership (UBO) can become a real labyrinth.

Are others encountering similar headaches? What strategies or tools are proving effective for onboarding these more complex or non-traditional business models while maintaining robust AML/CFT compliance? Specifically interested in how firms are managing risk profiles for entities with, say, legal registrations in one country but operational hubs and key decision-makers spread across several others. It feels like the regulatory frameworks are playing catch-up, and finding consistent best practices is tough.

It's an interesting problem, but I'm not sure how many of those 'fluid structures' you're describing are actually generating enough consistent, verifiable revenue to warrant full KYB in the traditional sense anyway. Most just seem like glorified speculative projects.

This is definitely a growing pain point. For DAOs especially, trying to fit decentralized ownership and governance into traditional KYB frameworks is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Have you found any particular jurisdictions or service providers that are more adept at handling these non-traditional structures?

This is definitely a growing pain point. The existing KYB frameworks were clearly not built for the modern digital economy. It feels like we're always trying to shoehorn these new models into old boxes, leading to more friction than clarity.

That's a really good point. It feels like the compliance frameworks are always a step behind the actual business innovation. I've seen similar issues with onboarding freelance collectives or even indie game dev teams that operate more like loose alliances than traditional companies.
