How do you guys really track your risk sizing?
Been trading for about a year, mostly discretionary, but trying to get more disciplined. I understand the concepts of R-multiples and position sizing based on stop loss, but in practice, with micro-adjustments or fast-moving markets, sometimes my actual risked capital on a given trade deviates from my initial plan. For those of you who are really consistent, how do you track this accurately during the trade or immediately after, without it feeling like a separate full-time job?
I've found it helpful to use a dedicated trading journal or a custom spreadsheet that integrates with my broker's API. This allows for real-time tracking of open positions and recalculates risk exposure as price moves, giving me a clearer picture even with micro-adjustments.
