New here, question on position sizing for small accounts

Hey everyone, just joined. Been dabbling for about a year, mostly discretionary equities and some forex. I've been trying to get a handle on proper position sizing, especially with a smaller account ($5k). I understand the percentage-based risk per trade, but sometimes it feels like I'm either risking too little to make it worth the fees, or too much for comfort when volatility picks up. How do you guys manage that balance without overleveraging or effectively sitting on the sidelines?

Completely understand the dilemma. For small accounts, the percentage-based risk can sometimes lead to very small position sizes, making commission costs a factor. Have you looked into micro-lots for forex or smaller share sizes/fractional shares for equities if your broker offers them?

The fee issue is certainly a consideration for smaller accounts. Have you looked into brokers with lower commissions or those offering fractional shares, as that might help with the 'too little' end of your concern?
