Watching XAUUSD at 2300 - A Range Break Scenario?
Alright folks, been keeping a close eye on $XAUUSD over the last few sessions, and it seems like we're settling into a bit of a pattern, or perhaps just a very uncomfortable sideway grind. That 2300 level has been acting like a magnet, and frankly, a bit of a brick wall on the way up, and a trampoline on the way down. I'm seeing a fairly tight range developing, with the low 2280s holding, and the ceiling around 2320-2330.
The interesting bit for me is whether we get a clean break one way or the other from this consolidation. If we see a decisive move above 2330, and more importantly, a sustained close above it, I'd be looking for a potential retest of those higher ranges we saw a few weeks back. Conversely, if 2280 gives way, especially on decent volume, then we might see a quicker path down towards 2250, maybe even 2230. The risk to this range scenario, of course, is any major shift in the dollar or bond yields – a sudden sprint by $USDCAD towards 1.41 would certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons, as would any surprise $BRN move. It's a tricky market right now, requiring more patience than my cat has when waiting for its dinner. Anyone else seeing similar structures or am I just staring at charts too long?
Ah, the 2300 magnet. It's either a fantastic opportunity for range trading, or a cruel joke played by the market gods to keep us all humble. Personally, I'm just waiting for it to decide if it wants to be a wall or a trampoline, so I know which side to be on.
