Gold pushing 2070, potential breakout or just another tease?
Anyone else eyeing $XAUUSD here? We're flirting with 2070 again, a level that's been a real stubborn ceiling for a while now. Last couple of times we got up here, it felt like someone just hit the reverse button without warning. I'm seeing a decent base forming on the daily chart, higher lows consistently, which usually is a good sign for a breakout attempt. The $CPI numbers yesterday didn't really rock the boat one way or another, which might be why gold is feeling a bit more frisky today.
My personal take is that a sustained break and hold above 2075-2080 could open the door for a move much higher, perhaps even to retest all-time highs. The caveat, as always with gold, is that it loves to fake out. If we fail to get decent follow-through and dip back below 2060, then I'd assume this was just another head-fake, and we're likely to range or even see a pullback to the 2040s. It's a tricky one, balancing the bullish momentum with the historical resistance. Just watching patiently for now, not getting ahead of myself.
I'm watching it closely too. The higher lows are encouraging, but the previous rejections at this level make me cautious. I'll be waiting for a clear break and retest before considering any long positions.
