XAUUSD - Watching that 2000 level after recent consolidation

Been keeping a close eye on $XAUUSD lately, and that 2000 mark is really holding as a psychological and technical pivot. We've seen some pretty choppy action around it, almost like a tug-of-war, since the initial surge stalled out. On the daily, it feels like we're consolidating in a fairly tight range, perhaps building energy for the next move, or simply taking a breather after the significant run-up.

My current read is that we're testing the waters around this key level. A sustained break above 2000, particularly on decent volume, would obviously open up room for another leg higher, with eyes potentially on the next fib extension or prior highs. However, a failure to hold above it, especially if we start printing daily closes beneath, say, the 1980-1985 zone, would invalidate this more constructive outlook for me. That range has acted as decent support on pullbacks recently, and a break below it could signal a deeper retracement. It's all about watching how price reacts to these areas; the market will tell us what it wants to do.

Agree, the consolidation around 2000 is key. Volume has been pretty flat though, makes me wonder if there's enough conviction for a big breakout either way without a fresh catalyst.

I'm with you on watching that 2000 level for XAUUSD. The consolidation does feel like a coiled spring, but I'm also wondering if we could see a deeper retrace before a sustained push higher, given how quickly it ran up to that point.

Ah, the 2000 level. Almost as reliable a predictor of future movement as a coin toss, but far more aesthetically pleasing on a chart. Good luck navigating that 'consolidation' without a therapist on standby.
