BoC rate hold and CAD reaction

The BoC holding rates steady yesterday, as widely expected, still seems to be having some lingering effects. Not seeing the immediate CAD sell-off some were anticipating, which is interesting given the more dovish tilt we've heard from other major central banks recently. It feels like the market is still processing the forward guidance, or perhaps just not ready to price in significant divergence just yet.

Watching $CADCHF closely after its run today, currently at 0.58066. It had a good move off the lows but feels like it's stalling a bit around the top of today's range (0.58087). Curious to see if this reflects underlying CAD strength or just a temporary bounce against a weaker CHF. No strong conviction on a directional play just yet, but definitely on the watchlist for signs of continuation or reversal tomorrow, especially if we get any more clarity on the global rate narrative.

Yeah, it's definitely been a muted reaction, which kind of makes you wonder if a lot of it was already priced in, or if everyone's just waiting for the next data points. Curious to see how it plays out with the upcoming CPI numbers.

It's almost as if the market collectively shrugged and thought, 'Well, that's not not what we expected, so let's just sit here awkwardly for a bit.' Waiting for the other shoe to drop, or perhaps the other central bank to sing a different tune, seems to be the current national pastime.
