Navigating AML for cross-border PSPs

For those operating Payment Service Providers (PSPs) across multiple jurisdictions, how are you effectively harmonizing AML frameworks, especially concerning varied SAR filing thresholds and data privacy requirements without creating an overly complex compliance burden?

Ah, the perennial joy of explaining to multiple regulators why your perfectly compliant system in one jurisdiction looks suspiciously like a money-laundering haven in another. My current strategy involves copious amounts of strong coffee and a very patient legal team.

It's a tightrope walk. We've found centralizing risk assessments and then localizing SAR/DP frameworks with a dedicated legal/compliance team per region helps, but it's resource-intensive.

That's a huge challenge. We've tried to centralize as much of the data processing as possible and then use a rules engine to apply jurisdiction-specific variations for SARs and privacy. It's not perfect, but it helps manage the complexity.
