The pitfalls of chasing DeFi yields without understanding smart contract risk

My biggest lesson in DeFi came from chasing what looked like insane APYs on a relatively new liquidity pool. I ignored the signs of a poorly audited contract and the lack of a substantial community, focusing purely on the projected returns. When the rug was pulled, it reinforced the critical importance of deep due diligence on the underlying smart contracts and the team behind them, not just the numbers being advertised. A high yield often comes with commensurate, and sometimes hidden, risks that need thorough assessment.
