On $KWEB and Chinese Tech vs. Other Plays: A Look Beyond the Hype?
Morning all. Just wanted to throw out something I've been mulling over as I watch the tape today. We're seeing $KWEB up a bit, currently sitting around 28.49, after a decent day's range. It seems like the narrative around Chinese tech getting a bounce or having 'bottomed' keeps resurfacing. And sure, fundamentally, some of these companies look attractive on paper given their depressed valuations from a few years back.
But honestly, I'm struggling to get genuinely excited about it as a primary allocation right now. The regulatory overhang, geopolitical tensions, and the general uncertainty around policy shifts seem to make it a perpetual "show me" story. I find myself looking at other sectors or even other regions where the tailwinds feel more consistent, even if the immediate upside isn't as dramatic as a potential snap-back in Chinese equities. Or, if we're talking about speculative plays, the risk/reward on something like $SHIB (trading around 0.00000471 today) feels almost clearer, in its own highly volatile way, because at least the narrative there is purely driven by community and speculative fervor, not constant government intervention risk.
Am I missing something crucial with $KWEB? Is the current price action more indicative of a real turn, or just short-term noise within a broader sideways trend? I'd love to hear some pushback if anyone sees a strong case for significant long-term upside in Chinese tech that outweighs the risks I'm flagging.
