Watching the ripple effect of HKD's move on stablecoins
Saw $HKD pop again today, up +4.73% to 1.77. Definitely feels like a liquidity scramble in some corners of the market, given the overnight moves. Got me thinking about the wider impact on stablecoins, especially those with any pegging or significant reserves in the region. It's not a direct BTC driver, but unexpected volatility in other major currency pegs can sometimes create a ripple, even if it's just a flight to safety towards the more established USD-pegged coins or, ironically, back to the king itself in times of broader financial jitters. Still holding my long $CRV position at 0.245, it seems to be holding its ground fairly well despite the general market chop.
While HKD volatility is interesting, the direct correlation to stablecoin stability, particularly for those with substantial reserves, might be overplayed. Most major stablecoins maintain diverse portfolios, minimizing exposure to single-currency fluctuations.
