Still buying gold here, even with rate hike noise?

I'm genuinely curious about the sentiment on gold right now. With all the Fedspeak about rate hikes and the dollar seemingly getting a boost, I still find myself looking at physical gold for a hedge. Everyone's talking about how rate hikes kill gold, but frankly, if we do tip into a real recession, the "safe haven" narrative will roar back louder than any interest rate argument. I see it as the ultimate long-term insurance against the inevitable fiat debasement. Am I just stubborn, or is anyone else still accumulating, ignoring the short-term headwinds?

I'm probably wrong and missing something obvious. Talk me out of it.

I'm with you on the recession hedge. While rate hikes are headwinds, a significant economic downturn could easily flip that dynamic for gold as a safe haven.
