Scaling out of $BTC positions on the way up – how do you handle it?
Been trading crypto for about a year now, mostly long-only $BTC and a few alts. I'm decent at identifying what look like good entry points, but my biggest struggle is scaling out on the way up. I often ride moves up, but then see a significant pullback and either get stopped out for less profit, or worse, see it retrace past my entry.
I've tried setting staggered limit orders but then often miss out on more upside. Or I watch the chart and end up second-guessing, holding for too long. For those who trade these longer trends, do you use specific technical indicators to signal partial exits, or is it more about pre-defined profit targets based on fibs/resistance? Or just trail a stop and let it ride? What's your typical approach for taking some off the table without leaving too much on the table?
