Scaling up CFD position sizes?

asked by u/jpetrovic · 20d · 1 answers

Hey everyone, fairly new to CFDs, been trading small sizes for a few months now and getting somewhat consistent. My question is around scaling up: how do you guys mentally adjust to increasing your position sizes without letting the higher P&L swings mess with your psychology? Is it purely a gradual thing, or do you have specific milestones or risk-per-trade limits you stick to religiously?

It's a gradual thing, but you also need to manage your risk per trade. Don't jump from 0.5% to 5% just because you're consistent. Increase incrementally, maybe 0.1-0.25% at a time, and stick to a maximum percentage of your account per trade regardless of how well you're doing.
