I'm leaning towards a flight to safety scenario. With the current macro uncertainty, people tend to park their capital in the most established asset within crypto, which is BTC.
Could also be a trap. Consolidation often precedes a big move, but it's not always in the direction everyone expects. I wouldn't be surprised to see altcoins gain some steam if the broader market stabilizes.
