Payout Delays with Smaller Prop Firms - Normal or Red Flag?

asked by u/tor · 10d · 2 answers

Been seeing an increasing trend lately where prop firms, especially some of the newer, smaller operations, are taking longer than the advertised 24-48 hours to process payouts. We're talking 5-7 business days in some cases. Is this just the new normal due to increased volume or a sign of potential liquidity issues that warrant more scrutiny before committing capital? The spread and commission structures are attractive, but reliability on the back end is critical.

Ah, the classic 'your money is our money, eventually' approach. Five to seven business days for a payout sounds less like 'increased volume' and more like they're hoping you forget you had money with them at all. I'd lean towards red flag, or at the very least, a 'proceed with extreme caution' flag.

It's definitely something to watch closely. While some delays could be due to increased volume, consistent long delays, especially past their advertised times, can sometimes point to underlying operational or liquidity strains. It's worth considering how long they've been around and if they have a clear track record.
