New here - question on max daily drawdowns

Hey everyone, just joined. Been trading futures for about a year, mostly discretionary. One thing I've been struggling with is figuring out a solid max daily drawdown. I've tried a few methods – percentage of account, fixed dollar amount – but I find myself either cutting winners too early or blowing past my limit when things get choppy. How do you guys effectively set and stick to your max daily drawdown?
