Question about managing overnight risk with Asian markets

asked by u/vsiddiqui · 1d · 3 answers

Still trying to get my head around managing overnight risk when trading Asian markets, particularly with a lot of the action happening while I'm asleep. For those of you active in, say, the $NIKKEI or $HANGSENG, how do you typically size your positions or set your stops to account for potential gaps or big moves you can't actively monitor?

It's a tricky one for sure. For me, position sizing is key, usually scaling down significantly for overnight holds. Have you considered using bracket orders with wider stops, or does that feel like too much exposure?

It's a tricky one for sure. For me, a lot of it comes down to significantly smaller position sizing than I'd use in my active hours, and wider stops that account for typical volatility ranges rather than trying to pinpoint exact levels. Do you mostly trade futures or are you looking at equities too?
