Does anyone else feel the AML reporting threshold is a bit... arbitrary?

Been thinking about the various AML reporting thresholds lately, especially for $BTC and other cryptos. Sometimes it feels like these arbitrary dollar amounts just create a game of whack-a-mole, incentivizing multiple smaller transactions rather than genuinely deterring illicit activity. Or am I just overthinking the compliance merry-go-round again?

It's a valid point about the potential for structuring. Regulators often weigh the administrative burden of lower thresholds against the risk of illicit financing, which invariably leads to some compromises. The challenge with crypto is how easily micro-transactions can accumulate.
