KYC/AML compliance for a boutique fund in APAC?

Starting to look into the regulatory landscape for setting up a small quant fund focused on Asian equities. The big question in my mind is around KYC/AML and general compliance burdens, especially given the various jurisdictions involved. Does anyone have experience navigating this with a lean ops team? I'm curious about the key pain points or common pitfalls for new entrants trying to ensure robust compliance without getting bogged down by a massive back office.

This is something I've been wondering about too! Are there any specific regions within APAC that are generally considered easier or more complex to navigate for KYC/AML when you're just starting out?

It's definitely a labyrinth. We're a similar size fund in the region, and while the initial setup for KYC/AML was intense, we found that leveraging a good compliance software platform and outsourcing some of the initial client onboarding checks to a specialized third-party significantly lightened the load for our small team. The real ongoing challenge is keeping up with the rapid changes in regulations across different APAC countries.
