USDX vs CAD: Is the Dollar Index getting too much credit here?

asked by u/risk_first_nadia · 18d · 2 answers

Watching the $USDX hover around 25.58, even with that slight bump, and I can't help but feel like people are overplaying its strength against everything else. Meanwhile, $CAD is just sitting flat at 95.879. Are we really seeing fundamental dollar strength, or is it more of a lack of compelling alternatives? Change my mind.

It's less about the USDX showing fundamental strength and more about the CAD not giving anyone a reason to buy it. Look at the commodities it usually tracks; they're not exactly booming.

I think it's fair to question if the USDX truly reflects broader dollar strength or just a relative lack of attractive options. The CAD's flatness could support the latter.
