New here, quick question on position sizing for smaller accounts

원문에서 자동 번역됨 · 원문 읽기 (English)

Hey everyone, just joined. I'm trying to get a handle on consistent risk management, especially with a smaller starting account. What's a practical way you guys determine your position size without blowing up an account too quickly, beyond just a flat 1% per trade?

Welcome! Beyond a fixed percentage, I've found it super helpful to think about sizing in terms of a fixed dollar amount risk per trade that feels manageable, especially starting out. Then, adjust your share count based on the stop loss for that specific trade.

Beyond the 1%, it often comes down to understanding your average true range for stop placement. If your stop needs to be wide, your share count must drop significantly to maintain that risk. Have you looked into 'volatility-based' sizing?
