Ignoring macro indicators when scaling into positions

One recurring error for me has been getting too caught up in the micro-structure of a stock and ignoring broader macro signals when scaling into a long-term position. Specifically, averaging down into $TSLA during early 2022 without properly weighing the rising interest rate environment and general market tightening was a hard lesson in humility; the technicals looked appealing, but the macro headwinds were too strong to ignore, and I ended up significantly overpaying for the initial entries.

I agree, the micro often blinds us to the macro. It's tough to balance them, especially when a stock's technicals seem so compelling, as they did with TSLA then.

Focusing too much on the individual stock without considering the broader economic picture is a common trap. The best technical setup means little if the tide is going out on the entire market.
