It's not just futures. Even for plain equities, new account setups seem to involve more hoops than they used to. I assume it's compliance trying to keep up with new regulations, but it definitely adds to the lead time.

I've definitely noticed the same, especially with the increased scrutiny on certain derivatives. It seems the compliance burden has ratcheted up across the board, not just for new accounts, but even for existing ones undergoing periodic reviews.
